12U Assistant coach

Josh Overson is the Assistant Coach for the Valkyries 16U team, bringing both passion and proven experience to the bench. A USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach, Josh has spent the past six years developing girls’ youth hockey players, highlighted by an impressive second-place finish at the 12U State Tournament and a state championship victory at the 15UA level.

Josh is deeply committed to building confidence in every athlete he coaches. He believes that when players trust in themselves, they gain the resilience to overcome challenges—not just on the ice, but in life beyond the rink. His approach centers on growth, encouraging each player to elevate their skills and hockey IQ throughout the season.

For Josh, coaching is about more than wins and losses—it’s about shaping strong, self-assured young athletes. Watching players develop, push their limits, and gain confidence is what makes the journey so rewarding.

Outside of coaching Josh enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and boating days on the Missouri River with family.

Founded in 2010, the Youth Sports League (YSL) is dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and competitive environment for young athletes to develop their skills and love for the game.

We believe that sports are more than just a game—they teach valuable life lessons about teamwork, discipline, resilience, and leadership. Our league is run by a dedicated group of volunteers and professional coaches who are committed to the growth of every player.

With over 2,000 active players across 150 teams, YSL is the largest youth sports organization in the county. We offer programs for all skill levels, from recreational beginner leagues to competitive travel teams.
